Step One
Select the rectangle tool and create a stack of 6 segments each a different color with an additional segment on the side(this will be the link).Step Two
Edit > Select All then Object > Group. Then select the transform tool, hold down shift, and resize the segment to the proper size you need.After you have it down to the proper size, go to the brush pallet, click the new brush button, and click ok twice. The segement should now be in the pallet.
Step Three
Create a path with the pen tool, then click on the pattern we just created in the brush pallet, this will apply the path.You can now reshape the path however you feel necessary, the links will modify automatically. Once you've done this the pattern is ready to be used whenever you open photoshop. Simply go to your fill tool, on the tool options bar at the top of the screen, drop down the menu that says Foreground, select Pattern, then use the pattern options box to select your pattern.
